The Food and Drug Department is recalling a batch of Rugby Enteric Coated 81mg aspirin tablets manufactured by Advance Pharmaceutical Inc as there has been a mix-up resulting in these bottles actually containing 500mg of acetaminophen tablets.
According to a press release, a recall has been issued for batch 13A026 of the pills manufactured and packaged under the Rugby Laboratories (Major Pharmaceuticals) and boasting a 01-2015 expiry date.
“Consumers may be inadvertently taking Acetaminophen 500mg Tabs instead of Enteric Coated Aspirin 81mg which may cause severe liver damage to those who take other drugs containing acetaminophen,” the department said.
Importers, distributors, retailers and consumers who are in possession of this lot of aspirin are asked stop distributing, selling or using this product and inform the department.
