Dear Editor,
I refer to the statement from the Agriculture Minister and Mr Leekha Rambrich of the Guyana Rice Producers Association saying the paddy price is the same as the last crop ($4,000- $3,700 per bag). Farmers are receiving $4,200, $3,300 and $3,500 per bag from millers.
They were told to take the money and that reimbursement would follow. I would like the Minister and the public to know that this is not true. Farmers are being told to take it or leave it.
Where are the grading officers from Guyana Rice Development Board who look after farmers’ rights? We the farmers would like the Minister and Mr Rambrich to respond to our letter.
Yours faithfully,
