Guyana Fashion Week (GFW) is set to be launched on August 4 at Herdmanston Lodge in Queenstown and those desirous of participating still have a chance to do so as the final audition will be held next Sunday, July 28 at Water Chris from 2 pm to 5 pm.
According to a press release, the launch will be an evening of jazz,
fashion and art display and while it had always been by invitation only, a limited number of tickets are available at Ashmin’s Trading, Water Chris and Sonia Noel Designs on Barr Street Kitty.
The GFW 2013 designers and models will be introduced to the public in a special choreographed display. The work of well-known artist Merlene Ellis will also be on show as well as a ceramic collection by Andy Cummings. There will also be food art by Kester Robinson, first runner-up in ‘Cutting Style’ a few years ago, among other things.
“The launch promises to be an elegant affair in a creative atmosphere that will set the pace for the other GFW events to follow.
Excellent branding opportunities [are available] for companies [as well as] major partnerships for this year’s Guyana Fashion Week,” the release said.
It said GFW is inspired by water’s sustainable properties: ‘Bringing life to fashion… and bringing fashion to life’.
