World Number Six Nicolette Fernandes will feature in today’s finals against Alex Arjoon and Ashley Khalil when the Digicel Senior National Championship concludes at the Georgetown Club courts.
Fernandes beat Jason Ray Khalil in last evening’s semifinal 11-2, 11-5, 5-11, 11-4.
In the first men’s semifinal defending champion Alex Arjoon came up against former national champion Regan Pollard. Arjoon won 11-6, 11-5, 9-11, 11-1.
In the men’s plate semifinal, Deje Dias was just too good for Alan Downes winning 11-8, 11-3, 11-3.
Nicholas Narain also proved too strong for Jo Jo Mekdeci winning 11-3, 11-6, 11-8.
In the women’s consolation plate semifinal Victoria Arjoon cruised to a win over Larissa Wiltshire, 11-3, 11-3, 11-6.
Akeila Wiltshire then took down Kathy Ten-Pow, 11-2, 11-7, 11-7.
The morning session featured quarter final matches in the men’s plate competition.
Dias won straight games, 11-7, 11-7, 11-4 against Ian Mekdeci.
Alan Downes nuked it out with Alec Melville to win 10-12, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 11-3.
Jo Jo Mekdeci overpowered Adam Alves 11-8, 11-4, 11-3.
Nicholas Narain beat Brian Yong, 11-7, 11-7, 11-4.
Steven Xavier defeated Ben Mekdeci 12-10, 12-10, 7-11, 11-8.
Nyron Joseph beat Raphael De Groot 8-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-3, 11-5.
