Dear Editor,
I’m glad I did not go to cricket on Sunday nor I was invited (for free). I am saddened when our cricketers lose. I watched the cricket while lying in bed and when it was over I thought we had fought the Taliban.
There was a spirit among the Pakistanis that we never dared to match. Pakistan played with a tension.
The era when we played with intensity was the era of Clive Lloyd and the Master Blaster and Whispering Death. It was the era when Socialism and Rastafari was uniting the Caribbean. Black Stalin sang the champion calypso ‘Caribbean Man’ about how Rasta was uniting the Caribbean.
We have no Taliban politician and we have no Taliban cricketer. Sad, but I predict that we shall lose both the One Day series and the T20 series.
Yours faithfully,
Tom Dalgety
