Dave’s Television Station Channel 8 (DTV-8) is collaborating with the Berbice Regional Health Authority (BRHA) to host a blood drive tomorrow. The blood drive will be held in front of DTV-8, 8 Main Street, New Amsterdam from 9:00hrs. The organisers are encouraging healthy individuals aged seventeen years and older, who weigh at least 110 lbs and who have not donated blood within the last three months to support the drive.
The National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) of the Ministry of Health relies on donations of blood from public-spirited persons to assist in situations where blood transfusion may be the only option to save a life.
Dr Vishwa Mahadeo, CEO of the BRHA, recently made a public appeal for individuals, groups and organisations to help the National Blood Bank as it is presently experiencing a shortage. The television station is one of the latest to join in the call for voluntary blood donors to come forward and help to restock the National Blood Bank.
All blood types are desired. As such, healthy individuals willing to donate blood are encouraged to do so at the DTV-8/BRHA Blood Drive tomorrow.
The blood drive is being held under the slogan “Be a Superhero – Donate blood to help save lives.”
