A Charlestown man was on Monday charged with assault, stemming from the allegation that he rained blows on his mother after a misunderstanding over money she owed him.
Delon Henry, 35, of Lot 6 Ketley Street, Charlestown denied unlawfully assaulting Pamela Griffith, on July 10, at Ketley Street, Georgetown, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Colin Primus, in relaying the facts, said that on the day in question the parties had a misunderstanding over some money, which the complainant owed him. During the misunderstanding, he dealt her several cuffs to her face and about her body.
The matter was later reported to the police, which led to Henry being arrested and charged.
Primus indicated that no severe injuries were sustained by the complainant.
Henry was informed that he would be sent on his own recognizance and the case was transferred to Court Eight and Nine for July 17.
