The contract for the construction of an asphaltic road to Lethem and upgrading of the Massara Access Road also in Region 9 will be retendered as yesterday when bid submissions were to be opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board no one had submitted a tender.
The contract falls under the Region 9 Regional Democratic Council.
Stabroek News understands that where there are no tenders the contract will once again be advertised. Should there again be no response then it is possible that the procuring entity could go the selected tender route where they invite companies to bid and select one.
However the procuring entity should undertake an investigation to determine the reason why the tender was shunned as logistics and needed labour play an integral part in companies bidding for projects in the region.
Meanwhile bids were opened for a series of other contracts. The procuring companies and their bids are illustrated below.
Ministry of Finance – painting of the interior walls of the ceiling of its main building at Main Street Georgetown.
The Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) -construction of a chain link fence for the University of Guyana.
Also IAST construction of a solar dryer for the entity
The installation of a dynamic mechanical analyzer for IAST saw a lone bid from a Mexican company .
