The 23-year-old Jamaican suffered the injury at the UTech Classic in Kingston in April and missed last month’s Jamaican World Championships trials, although he had already qualified for the 100 metres in Moscow as defending champion.
Blake’s manager, Cubie Seegobin, says the decision was made after assessment and re-evaluations since Blake’s withdrawal from the National Senior Trials.
Blake won the world 100-metre title in Daegu, South Korea, in 2011 following the disqualification of compatriot Usain Bolt for a false start.
