(Trinidad Express) Appeal Court justice Wendell Kangaloo, who suffered extensive injuries in a crash on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in May last year, died yesterday.
Kangaloo, who returned home in December after spending several months in the United States undergoing rehabilitation, died shortly after midnight.
Kangaloo sustained severe head injuries following an early morning crash on May 20, which killed four others. The crash happened when the car occupied by the four persons, crossed the highway median in the vicinity of Trincity and crashed into Kangaloo’s vehicle, which was traveling east.
Kangaloo was flown to the John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland days later.
He returned after doctors at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago decided that he “had reached the stage of his convalescence where he could be discharged from hospital to rejoin his family in Trinidad”, according to a press release issued back then by the Judiciary.
