Bishan Dalip defeated Sewon McGarrel in straight sets in the Men’s Open Singles encounter as action in the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) Tennis Open commenced at the company’s Recreational Club, Kaieteur Street, Bel Air Park on Friday.
Dalip secured passage through to the last 16 as he won 6-4, 6-3.
Continuing in the division, Joseph Dejonge defeated Ryan Panday in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, while Rudy Grant came from behind to eliminate Kester Abrams 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Victor Demchenko went down to Albert Madramootoo 6-2, 4-6, 3-10, while Ronald Murray easily disposed of Veeraj Jugdeo 6-3, 6-4 to conclude the evening’s Men’s Open Singles fixtures.
Effanie Doobay overcame Jamaali Holmer 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the sole Ladies Singles matchup of the evening.
