Caribbean Week of Agriculture 2013 will be hosted by the Government of Guyana, October 4-12, under the theme `Linking the Caribbean for Regional Food and Nutrition Security and Rural Development’, according to a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture.
The event will be held at the Guyana International Conference Centre.
The local steering committee (comprising members of the Ministry of Agriculture and other ministries, CARICOM, FAO & IICA) met on July 18, the release said.
A series of meetings and workshops have been planned for the period.
The Ministry of Agriculture will also be taking participants on field visits to agricultural sites of interest. Among the places to be visited are: GUYSUCO’s Enmore Estate and Packaging Facility, NDIA’s Hope Canal, GRDB’s Burma Research Centre, Guyana School of Agriculture, Satyadeow Sawh Aquaculture Centre, Guyana Livestock Development Authority, National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute and Mangrove Tour, Hydromet’s Doppler Radar Tower and the Santa Fe Farm in the Rupununi.
The Exhibition and Trade Show will be from Wednesday, October 9 to Friday, October 11, 2013.
