ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica, CMC – Guyana took advantage of a low scoring match to secure a two-wicket win over Jamaica in their Regional two-day Under-15 Cricket Tournament on Saturday.
A total of 393 runs scored between both teams from two innings, with the hosts only managing 99 as their highest total. Kirk McKenzie (29) and Brad Barnes (27) were the Jamaica’s top scorers in the first innings with Ronaldo Mohammed taking 5 for 28.
Guyana, in reply, reached 95 for 9 off 38 overs with Raymond Perez (19) and Matthew Hardial (18). But it was Brad Barnes (3 for 19) and Ian Spence (3 for 25) who restricted the Guyanese.
Jamaica, with only a four-run lead, were bowled out for 96 in their second innings with Jeavor Royal (24) and Dominik Samuels (21). Mohammed took four wickets for a match haul of 9 for 54 off 24 overs.
Guyana, haunted by scores under 100 and a target of 101 for victory, reached 103 for 8 off 55.4 overs. Hardial (27) and Mohammed (22) were the main contributors with the bat. Michael Harriott took 4 for 34 and Ian Spence 2 for 18, bowling for Jamaica.
