The preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charges against the accused in the murder of Kitty seaman Antonio Isles has started at the Georgetown Magis-trates’ Court.
The inquiry into the murder charge against the two teenagers who have been charged with the murder continued yesterday with witness testimonies.
The proceedings were held in-camera (to the exclusion of the public), since the accused persons are juveniles.
The two minors were charged with the capital offence, which alleges that on March 1 they murdered Isles.
Isles, 40, was a seaman and formally resided at Pike Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
Police had said in a press release that Isles was beaten and was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where he later succumbed to his injuries. A post-mortem examination carried out on March 6 determined that Isles had succumbed to a fractured skull.
