Nyron Joseph retained his Boys U17 crown and Ben Mekdeci won his second Caribbean title in the Boys U15 division as the individual finals in the junior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) championships concluded at the Cascadia Squash Courts in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday.
The defending U17 champion defeated Nku Patrick by three sets to one while Mekdeci clinched his title as he blanked Jonathan Walker by three sets to none. However Guyana would suffer losses on the distaff side as Akeila Wilshire and Victoria Arjoon lost their Girls U17 and U19 finals.
Wilshire went down to Gylla McKenzie three sets to one while Charlotte Knaggs swept past Arjoon three sets to nil.
In the Girls U15 Classic Plate division, Rebecca Low defeated Olivia Lindsey 3-2 to finish fifth while Shomari Wiltshire defeated Jasun Sairsingh 3-2 in their Boys U13 third place playoff.
In the Girls U17 third place playoff, Larissa Wiltshire went down to Gabby Fraser by a 3-1 score line while Jean Claude Jeffrey defeated Stephen Xavier by an identical score line to win their all-Guyanese Boys U19 third place off.
The Girls and Boys team events start today with Guyana being grouped with Barbados and Bermuda on the female side and Jamaica and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) on the male side.
