Two men wanted in connection with the recent armed robbery at Fullworks Motor Spares and Auto Sales at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara were nabbed by police on Thursday.
Police said in a press release yesterday that during the day the police conducted a search on a house at Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, during which an unlicensed .38 Taurus revolver with four rounds was found.
“Two men, who were wanted for questioning in relation to the recent armed robbery committed on [Fullworks] Auto Sales, have been arrested and are in police custody,” the police said.
The bandits had carried out the attack shortly after 2 pm on July 17, while employees and customers were in the building. Employee Ravi Ali had told Stabroek News that he, a customer and the cashier were confronted by the bandits as the other persons in the building sought cover.
Minutes before the attack, the men had gone into the building and inquired about the price of a car part, Ali stated. He said he told them the cost of the part and the men started to exit the building but suddenly turned around and pointed two guns at them.
The bandits ordered them to lie on the ground and then went into the cashier’s booth, where they placed a gun to the cashier’s head.
The drawers containing almost $1 million were then emptied by the thieves, who made good their escape in a waiting car.
