An International Telecommunication Unit (ITU) expert will arrive in Guyana next week to provide guidance in development of the roadmap for its transition from analog to digital terrestrial television broadcasting.
This was announced by Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon at his post-cabinet press briefing on Wednesday, according to the Government Information Agency (GINA).
Luncheon, who did not identify the expert, said the National Frequency Management Unit (NFMU) will be hosting the visit from July 29 to August 2 and he explained that the specialist will meet with the national roadmap team and the representatives of the telecommunication and broadcasting sectors in Guyana.
Meanwhile, Luncheon also announced that the building that houses the NFMU will be demolished and a new structure constructed at the site of the current facility in Lodge, Georgetown, GINA said.
He explained that the current structure will be replaced by a three-storey concrete building, 1,800 square feet, and will house government and state telecommunication broadcasting entities.
