Lloyd Britton, who was shot to his left side chest by a policeman in plain clothes on Friday night on Mandela Avenue, is recovering slowly in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the Georgetown Hospital where he is a patient.
Britton’s relatives told this newspaper yesterday that the bullet is still to be removed from his chest and he is complaining of excruciating pain.
They also stated that the father of the dead man, Elvis Fernandes, had approached them and told them he knew Britton had not shot his son and would not press any charge against him.
Fernandes’ relatives have not spoken on his death even though they were approached twice by this newspaper.
The relatives of the injured man added that they have learnt that the policeman who shot him is now missing.
Police had said that Britton was the shooter in the attack but the twenty-year-old has denied this and claimed that he was shot by the policeman, who also killed Fernandes.
