At Conaree, Guyana declared overnight on 334/9 and that proved to be a good decision they went on to take first innings points against the Windwards. Without a run on the board, the Windwards lost talented batsman, Gidron Pope, who is yet to click in this tournament.
But fellow opener, Keone George and Tonius Simon put on 95 runs for the second wicket. George struck eight fours and a six in his knock of 71 as the Windwards looked to get back on course. But wickets kept tumbling around him after Simon went for 44.
The only other real resistance came from Roland Cato (36) and Gian Benjamin (39). The last five batsmen’s scores added together came up to one, and that came from the number 11, in Darius Martin. Shawn Pereira led Guyana’s destruction with 5-43. The Windwards were bowled out for 235 as Guyana gained a lead of 99 runs.
Guyana closed Day 2, batting in their second innings, on 42/3, having an overall lead of 141 runs. Tagemarine Chanderpaul is not out on 28.
