AT WARNER PARK – Trinidad & Tobago edged Barbados in a thrilling contest for first innings points. Guyana started Day 2 in deep trouble on 58/6, still trailing T&T’s first innings score by 100 runs. An even century from captain Jameel Stuart led the recovery for Barbados.
Stuart batted patiently for 120 balls, hitting seven fours and a six. Fast-bowler, Jerome Jones also fought down the order for Barbados, hitting 46 from 93 balls. But he couldn’t quite get Barbados over the line. T&T bowled out the Bajans for 149, gaining a slim nine runs.
Bryan Charles was the pick of the T&T bowlers with 4-33. In their second turn at the crease, the Trinis, led by Jeremy Solozano batted much better than they did in the first. Solozano hit an unbeaten half century, including six fours and a six.
T&T lost two wickets but Camillo Carimbocas is unbeaten on 40.
Both men have put on 59 runs for the third wicket so far. T&T have an overall lead of 68 runs heading into the third and final day.
