Over 200 children between the ages of seven and twelve years will attend the Guyana Police Force’s annual youth camp held in collaboration with the Guyana Police Wives’ Association at the Pomona Secondary School, Essequibo Coast from August 5-10.
A release from the GPF said that the children were selected from the Force’s youth clubs
and scout groups to participate in the camp under the theme of “Youths, leading our nation.”
The campers will be involved several activities including craft-work, information technology, games, educational talks on topics including road safety, religious teaching and will participate in an exhibition to showcase skills learnt.
The camp will be managed by Assistant Commissioner Carol Lewis-Primo, who would be assisted by a number of other police ranks, members of the Police Wives’ Association and volunteer civilians.
The annual camp was first held at Camp Soweyo on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway in 1991. Last year’s camp was held at the Rosignol Primary School in West Berbice.
