Olympian Britany van Lange on Thursday placed third in heat two of the women’s 100m freestyle event at the 15th FINA World Swimming Championship in Barcelona, Spain.
Van Lange entered the heat with the fastest qualifying time (1:01 seconds) but was unable to reduce her entry time recording a slow 1:05 seconds for third place.
The 16-year-old had the third fastest reaction time (0.77 seconds) in her heat and clocked 30.46 seconds in the first 50m of the 100m before finishing third to Tiara Shahril-Anwar and Sameera Albitar who swam the distance in 1:02 seconds and 1:05 seconds respectively.
Meanwhile, double Olympian Niall Roberts swam 25.33 seconds, a slower time than his entry time of 24.84 seconds to finish sixth in the men’s 50m freestyle. Winning Roberts’ heat (2) was Runako Daniel, 24.16 seconds and behind him was Rodrigo Suriano (24.32 seconds) and Ahmad Attellesey (24.45 seconds).
Van Lange will participate in her final swim today in the women’s 50m freestyle for which she has an entry time of 28.80seconds.
