A woman was yesterday charged with stealing $7.4M from her elderly uncle’s bank account.
Shellon Fraser was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $60,000 when she appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The charge against Fraser is that between November 1, 2011 and February 27, 2013, at Georgetown, she stole via Automated Banking Machine (ABM) transaction, the sum of $7.4M, property of John A Cummings, from account number 10024669
Fraser, 40, and a mother of three of 16 Second Street, Turkeyen, denied the charge when it was read to her.
The woman said that she had since repaid some $500,000 to her uncle via a power of attorney.
The complainant, an elderly man who was present at court, said that he did not want his niece to be imprisoned. The matter was called to the bench as it appeared that the elderly man has problems hearing clearly as he kept straining to hear questions asked by the court.
Fraser was placed on $60,000 bail. The matter will be called again on September 5.
