BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, CMC-Windwards Islands have clawed their way back to lead Trinidad and Tobago by 44 runs at stumps on the first day of their three-day fifth round match in the Regional Under 19 competition yesterday.
Windwards are 19 without loss in their second innings after a first innings total of 105 at Verchilds,
Vikash Mahon six for 24 was the main destroyer of the Windward’s first innings.
However the Windward Islands rebounded to dismiss the Trinidadians for a low first innings score of 80 in 29.4 overs.
Trinidad struggled to build partnerships and were 43 for four and 75 for nine at different stages in their innings.
Over at Conaree, Guyana have taken first innings lead from Leeward Islands after coasting to 152 for five in 45 overs replying to 128 by Leewards.’
Guyana, who were at one stage stumbling at 18 for two, are enjoying a 5th wicket partnership which has already yielded 51 runs between Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Ricardo Adams.
Adams is unbeaten on 42 while Chanderpaul is 23 not out.
Meanwhile, at the EGSC Molineaux Ground, Jamaica is trailing Barbados by 17 runs and will be hoping to consolidate their overnight score of 82 for two when the match enters its second day Tuesday.
