A huckster was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge that he had cocaine for trafficking.
The allegation against Lester Marks, 35, is that on August 8, at Georgetown, he had in his possession 2.9 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Marks, of Lot 172 Charlotte Street, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the narcotic-trafficking charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman before whom he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
No further details of the charge were presented to the court.
Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt made a successful application for the accused to be remanded to prison, arguing that Marks advanced no special circumstances for his pre-trial liberty to be considered.
As a result, the unrepresented father of two was informed that he would be remanded to prison. The case will be called again on September 10.
