The University of Guyana’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is hosting its first international research conference on sustainable development from August 12 to August 14, 2013, at the Guyana International Conference Centre (GICC), Liliendaal and at the Education Lecture Theatre (ELT), University of Guyana, Turkeyen.
A release from the University of Guyana said that the conference, being held under the theme “Sustainable Development: Science Education, Research, Innovation and Enterprise,” will be launched on August 12, 2013, at 9am at the GICC. The plenary and technical sessions will follow.
The conference will present indigenous and collaborative research in sustainable science, which will guide future science research in Guyana in the areas of policy, education, practice, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The release listed the key facilitators as Dr. Betty McDonald and Professors Arnoldo Ventura, Ulric Trotz, Rory Fraser and Lee Wilson.
The plenary presentations will be made by experts on the subject of sustainable development through science. The conference will also serve as a platform for the hosting of a Biennial Research Conference in the Natural Sciences, as well as to commemorate the University of Guyana’s 50th anniversary.
