The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Guyana Association of Private Security Organisations (GAPSO) will be hosting a security seminar tomorrow at the Pegasus Hotel from 9:00 to 12:00 hours. The free seminar targets members of the business community.
A release from the Chamber said that the seminar will inform the business community about issues relating to security in Guyana and will offer advice on some of the initiatives undertaken and services offered by both public and private institutions to enhance business and personal security.
The keynote address will be delivered by Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee. A high level team comprising of six officers (Floyd Levi, Louis Dodson, Daniel Kumar, Nakasi Nedd, Clement Henry and Shaun Coojay) from the Ministry of Home Affairs will also make presentations on the following topics: Integrated Crime Information System & I Paid A Bribe, Crime Trends, Crime Mapping, Safe Neighbourhoods Crime and Social Observatory and Houses of Justice.
The release said that several other key stakeholders will share best practices and trends in modern security systems, including Randy Storm, President of GAPSO who will speak about security in the business environment; Michael Ram, Head of Operational Risk Department, Republic Bank Guyana Limited who will highlight issues relating to online banking security; Maurice Amres, Chief Executive Officer, GEB Security Services Inc., will cover electronic security and preventative measures for fire in the business environment, while Doodnauth Danny, Electrical Engineer of NT Computeac will talk about the services offered by NT Computeac for business and home security.
