Junior cyclists Akeem Arthur and Michael Anthony won silver and a bronze medal respectively at the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships (JCCC) in Aruba last month. Arthur placed second while national junior road race champion and last year’s gold medalist at the same championships, Anthony completed the podium with the bronze medal.
According to reports, the locals could have earned a clean sweep of the medals but Hamzah Eastman, the third cyclist, who was leading the event with less than a mile to go, suffered mechanical problems.The three teenage riders competed in the two-day championships without a coach or manager.
