The trial of Morris Roberts, accused of fatally beating another man to death at Wanakai, North West District, began in the High Court yesterday with him changing his plea from guilty to not guilty.
Roberts, called “Moses,” had initially pleaded guilty to the charge that he killed Martin Daniels when it was read to him but changed his plea to not guilty after.
Counsel for the state Tishana Lake, who appeared in association with Natasha Backer, told the jury that was empanelled to hear the trial yesterday that Daniels was hit with a piece of Wood by Morris in the wee hours of the morning of August 16, 2009, causing him to die.
Morris is represented by attorney Kevon Bess. The trial continues today.
