A third man was charged yesterday over the March 25th $4.3M robbery of gas station owner Cecil Gajadhar.
Ronald Kissoon, 27, of Lot 59 James Street, Albouystown, appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer to the robbery charge, which is based on the allegation that he robbed Gajadhar of a bag containing $4,340,000.
He pleaded not guilty.
Two other men, Ramario Gouveia and Damian Allicock, were both charged previously for the robbery. Attorney Adrian Thompson, who represented Kissoon, asked for bail to be granted in a reasonable sum. However, Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail based on the seriousness and prevalence of the offence. As a result, bail was denied and Kissoon was remanded to prison.
The case has been fixed to continue on September 13 at Court One.
Police reported the arrest of two men after the robbery, which occurred as Gajadhar, of Foulis, East Coast Demerara, was sitting in his vehicle at Camp Street, Georgetown.
Gajadhar, according to police, was confronted by five men who demanded cash and took away a bag containing the $4.3M and ran away.
An alarm was raised and a member of the City Constab-ulary who was in the vicinity responded and gave chase, during which a round was discharged into the air. One of the perpetrators was arrested and the bag with the money recovered.
Subse-quent investigations led to the arrest of another suspect by the police, the force had reported.
Gajadhar was robbed last month, when gunmen ambushed him and his employee Victor Da Silva, who was killed in the attack.
