Jamaican Dane Schwier defeated Jamal Callender in their men’s super plate fixture as action in the Digicel 2013 Senior Caribbean Squash Championships powered by POWERADE and SMALTA concluded at the Georgetown Club Squash Courts yesterday.
Schwier came from behind twice to overcome Callender by a 3-11, 13-11, 4-11, 11-7, 11-3 score line. Barbadian Rhett Cumberbatch defeated Trinidad and Tobago’s Kale Wilson 11-7, 11-9, 4-11, 11-7 in their super plate fixture.
In the Men’s Plate division, Kristian Jeffrey easily disposed of Julian Jervis of the Cayman Islands in straight sets 11-5, 11-4, and 11-2.
Jason Ray Khalil defeated fellow Guyanese Ryan Farnum 9-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 in their men’s division 9-16 playoffs fixture.
Barbadian Bryant Cumberbatch defeated Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Kevin Hannaway in their 9-16 playoffs match. Farnum in his final match of this division defeated Cumberbatch via walkover.
In a battle of the Wiltshire siblings, Akeila defeated Larissa in straight sets 11-5, 11-7, 11-4 in their women’s plate encounter while Nadia McCarthy of Barbados edged Kathy Shuffler-Ten-Pow 8-11, 8-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-9 in their women’s plate match.
