South Ruimveldt Gardens businessman Mike Carter was yesterday accused of threatening to have a woman killed.
Carter, 53, of Lot 193 South Ruimveldt Gardens, was charged with using threatening language to Yvette Gordon on February 14, causing a breach of the peace.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
According to attorney Peter Hugh, the alleged offence occurred while Carter was trying to help some persons with processing legal documents.
He asked for bail to be granted, noting that his client is a married businessman with three children and has never had any previous convictions.
However, prosecutor Neville Jeffers stated that Carter threatened to pay money and have Gordon killed. Jeffers objected to self-bail for the accused.
As a result, bail was set by Magistrate Ann McLennan at $15,000.
The case was adjourned to September 12, when it will be called at Court One.
