In typical Jamaican fashion, reggae dance hall superstars Busy Signal and Konshens put on nothing short of electrifying performances Friday night at the Jamzone Regional Night.
The two artistes ignited the Providence National Stadium with such precision, energy and vibrancy without even lighting a match stick.
Konshens who came on stage to loud moans and applause by the fairer sex signalled his intentions very early in his 45- minute set, using stage performance, lyrical prowess and hits such as ‘Bad Gyal’, ‘Sidung’, Forward Forward and ‘Do De Ting’ to bring the crowd to life.
The red haired entertainer’s energy punctuated every beat of his performance as he paraded the stage side to side, hyping the crowd as sweat dripped with every move he made.
As if he was not already rocking the crowd with songs like ‘Don’t You Try Con Meh’, ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’, `Bubble Gyal A Bubble’, Jiggle’ ,Hand Pon Ya Knee and Push It Back’, Konshens got the crowd even more hyped with his Summer Hits ‘Couple Up’ and ‘I’m Coming’.
He then garnered gun fingered salutes from screams from every direction when he belted out ‘Buss A Blank’, ‘Real Friends’ and ‘No Bwoy Nah Badda Dan We’.
Konshens then closed his headline session by performing his guaranteed crowd-pleaser ‘The Realest Song’ which had the patrons applauding, signalling that they were fully satisfied.
His act was fully complemented by Busy Signal.
The ‘Hot Head’ artiste dressed in his signature all black, belted out hit after hit that included ‘Clock Work’, ‘Bad Man Place’, ‘Hustle Man Ah Hustle’ and Unknown Number’.
Busy Signal who was recently released from prison also performed ‘Nah Go Jail Again’, Tip Pon Ya Toe’, Night Shift’, ‘Missing You’ and his current hit song ‘Bedroom Bully’.
The Caribbean’s number one cross over band, Karma and Trinidadian Soca artiste, Shall Marshall also performed.
Guyana was also well represented by local performers, Jory, Magnum, Tennicia DeFreitas,Lisa Punch, Jackie Hanover, Michael Ferreira and Super Ray.
As if there was not enough musical magic in one night for the thousands at the Providence National Stadium, the veteran Antiguan band, Burning Flames delivered in fine form their lyrical and theatrical prowess as they performed hits such as Workey Workey and frolic.
Although controversial, their latest hit ‘Kick In She Back Door’ was performed much to the approval of the crowd. The band made no comments on calls to have the song banned here.
The flames went out sometime around 4:30am with their rendition of ‘Really’.
Jamzone’s Brazilian Night was set for last night at the National Park while the International Night will be held on Saturday at the stadium.
Saturday’s show will be headlined by R&B singer and songwriter, R. Kelly.
