The Berbice Bridge Company Inc (BBCI) has donated $30,000 to Satish Gobin towards the cost of a kidney transplant operation in India.
A release from BBCI said that after verification, the company, last Thursday responded to the request from Shureen Ragbeer, Satish’s mother for assistance towards the cost of the medical procedure, air fares and accommodation.
It said that Satish was diagnosed with renal failure in 2010 and had a kidney transplant in India in 2010. Unfortunately, despite strict adherence to recommended treatments and medical follow ups at both the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and with his renal surgeon in India via correspondence, Satish’s transplanted kidney has started to show evidence of transplant rejection so he needs to be assessed by his surgeon in India.
The cheque was handed over to Satish by BBCI Administrative Assistant Bibi Alli.
The release said that the company was privileged to have the opportunity to make a donation towards the worthy cause and encouraged other business entities and persons to make donations to assist Satish Gobin to get a kidney transplant operation in India.

The BBCI repeated that it not only collected tolls and facilitated vehicles crossing the Berbice River Bridge and vessels transiting through the retractor opening and under the high span, but it also discharged its corporate responsibilities and played an integral part in the development of education and sport.
It also supported national events and has made donations to charitable and non-charitable organisations not only near the bridge in Regions Five and Six but in other Regions.
