Sudesh Fitzgerald won the Open singles title of the Guyana Darts Association (GDA) tournament at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) on Friday.
Fitzgerald earned his spot in the final following victories over Colin France by a 2-0 score line and Lallchand Rambharose by a 2-1 margin in the preliminary and semifinal rounds respectively.
He then clinched the title by downing junior player Nicholas Seetaram 3-1.
Seetaram, in his earlier preliminary and semifinal round fixtures defeated Anthony Bissoondyal and Anil Lachman respectively by the identical 2-1 score line. Lachman, in his preliminary matchup, had defeated Francis Correia 2-0.
The pair of Rambharose and Correia combined effectively to defeat the team of Fitzgerald and Edward Richmond by a 2-1 margin in the final of the luck of the draw doubles.
Rambharose and Correia had defeated Shaundel Hyles and Ricardo Madhoo in the semifinal while Fitzgerald and Richmond earned their spot in the final when they edged Anil Lachman and Anthony Bissoondyal 2-1.
