TORONTO, Canada, CMC- Former West Indies opening batsman Ryan Ramdass wants to reclaims his place on the Guyana and West Indies team after a run spree in the Toronto and District Cricket Association Elite 50-over tournament.
The right-hander says he is happy with his current form after cracking a double-century, a century, and four half-centuries since his arrival earlier this year.
Ramdass, who represented the Caribbean side in a solitary one-day international and test match, says he is back to full fitness and ready mentally and physically to play at the highest level again.
I [am] definitely working very hard on my game,” said the 30-year-old cricketer who featured in 21 first-class matches for his native country but picked up a shoulder injury which kept him out of action for the past seven years.
“I just feel I can make a big contribution to Guyana’s and West Indies’ cricket again but I know runs are very important and playing in Canada professionally helps my game and confidence tremendously”.
Ramdass says he is willing to return home and participate in the domestic competitions there in an effort to represent Demerara at the Guyana Cricket Board inter-county competition.
The Guyanese cricketer also said that he has benefitted from playing in Trinidad and Tobago where he represented Clarke Road in both limited overs and three-day competitions, before joining Islanders Cricket Club in Canada for the fifth year.
“Yes, playing in Trinidad and Tobago where the competition was very stiff and getting among the runs was definitely remarkable and then I came up here and making runs consistently,” said Ramdass.
“I want to reclaim my spot on the Guyana and West Indies team in the near future; I am confident I can do it because my fitness is great and I am delighted to make steady and significant contributions to my teams up here”.
