Dear Editor,
My telephone number is 444-8287 and I reside at Lot 114 Second Street, Silvertown, Wismar, Linden.
I once lived at 30 Canvas City, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I removed, and I am now at the above address. Before I removed I communicated with the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) Linden’s office staff, who indicated the requirements for them to effect a transfer of the telephone service which is within the same exchange area. All of those requirements were fulfilled during the month of April 2013.
It’s now mid-August and I’m still waiting for that transfer. During my waiting period, I’ve made many enquiries only to be told repeatedly, “We gon come soon.” Quite recently, I was told, “We have a transportation problem.” I’m not a delinquent subscriber, and bills are served at my new address where there is no service.
It leaves me to wonder why a company which continues to post large billboards all over Guyana, cannot solve its transportation problem and get on with its business and satisfy its customers.
I am not a representative of the many frustrated subscribers, but I know we are many in Linden.
Sometimes when the outside plant (OSP) technicians are confronted on the street, we could see on their faces and hear in their voices the frustration they suffer. We don’t fault them; they are a hard-working team, but with one company vehicle and one overworked contracted vehicle attached to the OSP department, what else can we expect? But it’s not our fault, we are subscribers to a system that we must enjoy.
Yours faithfully,
Beverley Grenada
