Overnight showers washed out yesterday’s three scheduled first round matches of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ Banks DIH-sponsored Malta Supreme Under-13 tournament in Georgetown.
The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) was scheduled to play Everest Cricket Club at the Everest Sports Club ground while Transport Sports Club was down to tackle Gandhi Youth Organisation club (GYO) over at the GYO club ground. In the third scheduled encounter, Malteenoes Sports Club was to oppose the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) team at Bourda.
None of the proposed matches were able to bowl off due to the respective venues being swamped by showers during the early hours of yesterday.
Competitions Chairman of the GCA Shaun Massiah yesterday told this newspaper that the washed out first round fixtures will hopefully bowl off on Monday providing playable weather conditions.
The second round of the tournament will bowl off today at 9:30am providing the grounds are suitable.
Today’s scheduled matches will see Everest Sports Club opposing Transport Sports Club at Gandhi Youth Organisation club (GYO) ground; DCC opposing GCC at Bourda and Malteenoes Sports Club against GYO at GYO ground.
