The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), yesterday nominated five cricket coaches to attend the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)-sponsored tutor/assessor course at the University of Technology (UTech) in Jamaica.
The five coaches selected are National Coach, Esuan Crandon; former
West Indies fast bowler, Reon King; National Under-15 Coach, Julian Moore; Chairman of the National Selectors, Rayon Griffith and former GCB Cricket Development Officer, Colin Stuart.
The WICB, in an effort to certify and standardise coaching in the West Indies, has partnered with UTech and the English Cricket Board to devise a curriculum that will ensure coaching techniques and methods throughout the region follow the same path.
The tutor/assessors course is designed to train practising level 2 coaches to teach the level 1 and foundation courses.
All Territorial Development Officers and Development Officers of WICB members are required to take the course.
Applicants for the Tutor/Assessor must be a level 2 coach. Computer literacy is required to participate in the programme which will be managed and supervised by facilitators from the University.
The first intake for the course at UTech will start in the new semester and will be fully sponsored by the West Indies Cricket Board.
Upon completion of the programme, all successful participants will receive certification.
