Two men were yesterday arraigned at court for wounding and assaulting each other and they were both placed on bail.
It was alleged that Leon Barton, 32, of Lot 630 ‘A’ Field, Sophia on August 8, at McDoom, unlawfully assaulted Calvin Barrow. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Barrow was also charged at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court with unlawfully wounding Barton on the same date and at the same place. He was not required to plead to the charge.
Barton sustained deep lacerations to the left arm caused by stab wounds, while the parties were in a scuffle with each other.
Prosecutor Seon Blackman did not object to bail for either of the accused but asked that their bail be set at a substantial amount and that Barrow reports to the Providence Police Station on Mondays and Fridays.
He also suggested that a bond be issued to Barrow to stay away from Barton, since Barton’s girlfriend lives next to Barrow.
Magistrate Faith McGusty granted $10,000 bail to Barton. She granted $100,000 to Barrow, under the condition that he reports to the Providence Station and does not contact Barton.
The case was adjourned until September 4.
