DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, CMC- Dylan Carter has created history by becoming the first Trinidad and Tobago athlete to qualify for the finals of the 100m at the World Junior Swimming Championships, currently taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Carter, a multiple regional gold medalist and record holder, also rewrote his own 15-17 age group national record of 56.83 seconds.
He touched the wall in 55.64 seconds for a third place rank out of 65 of the world’s best junior backstroke swimmers.
“I felt really good in the preliminary round, knew that I was well prepared and expected the best result,” Carter said.
“I am happy that I was able to make the semi-final round from the morning swim and break the national record and felt great after the evening swim having made the finals”.
Carter is also scheduled to participate in the preliminaries of the 200m freestyle .
