The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) wishes to respond to the Stabroek News’ August 30, 2013, letter published under the caption, ‘Protracted process, high charges to retrieve package at GPO.’
GPOC would like to apologise to the writer since it is paramount for the Corporation to ensure that all transactions are conducted in a timely manner at the least inconvenience to its customers. Customers are kindly advised to contact the Corporation’s Customer Services Department for assistance if any difficulty is encountered. Customers can also call the aforementioned department on telephone number 226-3127.
Moreover, it is pertinent to state that GPOC only charges a fixed handling fee of $500 for any package uplifted from the post office. This flat handling fee is affixed to any package regardless of its weight. All other taxable fees are determined and affixed by the Guyana Revenue Authority which is also responsible for the examination of such packages.
