The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) yesterday named three squads to participate in trial matches on Thursday and Friday in an effort to select the Demerara team for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board one day Inter County tournament.
The El Dorado Senior Inter-County limited overs competition which will be contested on a round robin basis among Demerara, Berbice and Essequibo teams is expected to bowl off on September 21.
The trial matches will be contested at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda and the teams will be led by national players, Steven Jacobs, Leon Johnson and West Indies T20 player, Christopher Barnwell.
The Jacobs-led team features players such as Robin Bacchus, Andrew Lyght Jr., Zaheer Mohamed, and Andre Stoll while Team Two, led by Johnson, will include young Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Rajendra Chandrika, Collis Butts and Paul Wintz.
Barnwell will lead a team which includes Amazon Warriors’s Trevon Griffith, Ryan Ramdass, Derwin Christian and Brian Sattaur.
The trials will be used to help select the players for the upcoming Senior Inter-county season. All players are requested to be at the playing venue at 9:00 am.
