Familiar foes Fruta Conquerors will oppose Pele, Football Club when the inaugural Players Cup football tournament continues today at the Tucville Community Centre ground.
That match is expected to get underway at 20:00hrs and promises to be a highly entertaining Group ‘B’ encounter.
Buoyed by their recent success against the Tucville outfit by a 3-1 score line, Pele will look to the likes of Shemroy Arthur, Dirk Archer, Keoma Gravesande and Okeene Fraser to propel them victory.
Pele coach Barry Myers, during an invited comment said:“The last time we played them we got a victory and we will be going all out for the win. We are not underestimating them or disrespecting them, we will just go all out and seek the victory.”
Clearly going through a period of transition evident by their youthful starting contingent, Conquerors will rely on the foursome of Jermaine Junior, Eon Alleyne, Dwayne Lawrence and the evergreen Delon Williams to avenge their earlier loss.
Coach of Fruta Conquerors Sampson Gilbert in a pre match comment stated: “We are looking forward to winning the game. We need to better our performance from the last match against the army (Guyana Defence Force) and a win would secure our position in the next round.
“Our finishing has an impediment and I will be going back to the drawing board to rectify this problem,” added Gilbert.
The opening encounter of the evening at 18:00hrs will see the Guyana Police Force (GPF) tackling Houston Stars FC in a crucial Group ‘C’ matchup.
