An Eccles, East Bank Demerara biker was gunned down in front of his home last night by a man who he was seen arguing with moments before.
Kirk Davis, believed to be in his early 30s, and of Lot 320, Eccles Housing Scheme died at the Georgetown Hospital after he was shot multiple times about his body.
Davis sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body with what is suspected to be a 9mm weapon shortly after he was seen arguing with a man. He had just arrived home when the incident occurred, sources close to him said.
Police said in a release that Davis was found in his home around 21:45 hrs with suspected gunshot injuries. He was then rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where he succumbed. Blood stains were still visible on the bridge of Davis’ home when this newspaper visited the scene last night.
One source told this newspaper that the man was at home when he received a call and went outside of the house. He and the person he came out to see ended up in an argument and it was during this that Davis was riddled with bullets.
Davis resides alone in the upper flat of the two-storey building and his close relatives are said to be abroad. Stabroek News was told that he is also the owner of a bike shop and a boutique and brought bikes from Suriname.
One of the dead man’s neighbours recalled that she was asleep when she heard the sound of a hammer hitting against an iron bar. The woman stated that she thought that the hitting was coming from inside of her yard so she woke up her daughter. She added that soon after, she heard the sound of a vehicle speeding through the street, which is very dark in the nights.
The neighbour also noted that most persons had already retired for the night at the time of the shooting.
