A man was yesterday accused of having counterfeit $1,000 notes in his possession when police searched him.
The charge read at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court stated that Seon Davis, 32, of Lot 3512 D’Urban Street, Lodge on August 29, at Stabroek Market, had in his possession six $1,000 counterfeit notes.
He pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Bharrat Mangru stated that on August 29, police ranks acted on information received and went to Stabroek Market, where they located Davis and conducted a search on him.
He said that the counterfeit notes were found in the man’s right side pants pocket, amongst other legal notes. As a result, he was later charged.
Mangru did not object to bail, which was set at $25,000 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
The case will be called again on September 30.
