The Tucville Community Centre ground will come alive today when action in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Players Cup group stage continues with two fixtures.
In the feature contest at 20:30hrs, West Ruimveldt heavyweights Western Tigers will oppose Beacons FC in what promises to be a high scoring Group ‘D’ showdown.
Held to a nil-all draw in their earlier fixture by Santos, Western Tigers, boasting a talented unit led by Hubert Pedro, Trevon Lythcott, Stellon David and Solomon Austin, will be on the hunt for their first win against a struggling Beacons side that will be looking to create an upset.
Western Tigers coach Calvin ‘Flu man’ Allen, in a pre match comment stated:“We have to stick to our strengths and focus on our plans to get the three points. We have to improve on what we do well and eliminate the mistakes. If we execute out plans and play to our style, we should get the three points.”
Group ‘A’ action will take the centre stage in the opening encounter at 18:30hrs as Alpha ‘the Hammer’ United will engage Flamingo FC.
Fresh of their recent Goal for Gold tournament triumph on Sunday, Alpha piloted by the likes of Dwight Peters, Anthony Abrams, Andrew Murray Jr., and Quacy Madramootoo, will look to continue their dominance when opening whistle sounds.
While not possessing the talent of their more illustrious opponents, Flamingo will try to spring a surprise or two in attack as they pursue their first victory of the tournament.
