Action in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Players Cup group stage continues today with two fixtures at the Tucville Community Centre ground.
The feature matchup of the night at 20:30hrs will see Santos FC opposing Kitty-based side Northern Rangers FC in an intriguing Group ‘D’ matchup.
Held to a draw in their opening fixture against Western Tigers, Santos will depend on the trio of Glenorvan Edmonds, Odel Williams and Ryan Fields to secure their first win of the tourney. Dwain Babb, coach of the Santos side in an invited comment said “Preparation has not been as expected but we’re still going out there looking for a victory.”
Santos, however, will have their work cut out for them as they will face off with a confident Northern Rangers side fresh off their 8-2 pummelling of Beacons FC.
Led by the likes of Shawn Layne, Wendell St. Hill and Jermaine Willis, Northern Rangers will try to secure passage to the knockout rounds when opening whistle sounds.
Northern Rangers coach Clifton Bobb during a pre match comment stated:“I have a strong team and (we) will give a good account of ourselves against Santos. Even though Santos is a good team, we expect to win which will put us in a good position.”
In the opening game at 18:30hrs, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) will look to arrest Campbellville-based side Camptown FC in what promises to be an open group ‘C’ affair.
