Camptown FC defeated the Guyana Police Force (GPF) 2-0 in their Group ‘C’ fixture as action in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Players Cup continued yesterday at the Tucville Community Centre ground.
Played in front of a small crowd, midfielder Jahal Greaves gave the Campbellville-based club the
lead in what was a scrappy first half through a 29th minute strike.
Camptown would register their second victory of the group as left full back Jermain Blue etched his name on the scorer’s sheet with a 64th minute conversion.
Latching onto a cross from the right side of the field, Blue would exhibit clever footwork as he skipped past his opposing right back before unleashing a powerful effort that struck the gloves of the GPF custodian and settled into the left side of the net.
The feature group ‘D’ contest of the evening between Kitty side Northern Rangers and Santos FC was officially called off without a ball being kicked due to bad lighting. Up to press time a rescheduled date for the replay of the fixture was yet to be announced.
