The office of Dr SenGupta and Associates has delivered a series of outreach events in the past month.
As a way of giving back to the community, the dental team of seven planned and executed activities that benefited underprivileged citizens through dentistry in Guyana.
The first event was held at the Cheddi Jagan Dental Centre on Wednesday July 17 and was aimed
at educating all dentists and dental students in Guyana on the technological advancements of dentistry on an international level.
The guest speaker was Dr Larry Grillo, who is a well-established prosthodontic surgeon in Florida, USA. The expectation of the team with regard to this lecture was not only to educate dentists and dental students about what is new in dentistry but to encourage improvement in standards and protocols in dental clinics. This event was well received and endorsed by the Principal Dental Officer, Dr Ali. The following Friday, a team of seven travelled to Santa Mission where they served the Amerindian community for two days offering simple dental services, dental education and dental advice.
Mobile dental chairs were set up in the primary benab of the village and the entire village was invited to have treatment done.
Toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed to attendees. Over 50 patients were seen and treated and many more given advice.
For the conclusion of their outreach for dental care, Dr SenGupta & Associates delivered a service to Holy Rosary’s underprivileged at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, David Street, Kitty – from midday till dusk.
The team of dentists worked tirelessly over the past few months in promoting dental hygiene: examinations, fillings, extractions and cleanings were some of the procedures done. Toothpaste, floss and brushes were distributed to all patients on site.
Over 50 patients left very gratified and informed as they were given optimum care and attention. Dr SenGupta & Associates is reportedly very satisfied with the outcome and response of the village and church community.
The team that accompanied Dr Soumi SenGupta included dentists Dr Larry Grillo and Dr Sulan Fung; three dental assistants: Pravesh Harry, Jasmine SenGupta and Luke Grillo and office administrator, Chiquita Vaughn.
